Peugeot PX10SH
1986
Commuter bike
Classic build
700c
The Peugeot PX10SH came to me as a bare frame with no wheels, a few mismatched parts and a fair bit of wear, but with some work it came back to life really nicely. The rear Shimano 600 derailleur had a proper glow up, and the brakes were mismatched front to back (a respectable Modolo caliper at the rear), so I swapped in a shinier Shimano 600 pair from the same groupset. I kept the original crank arms but changed the rings, as I'm not a fan of oval ones, and of course an orange crankset cap had to go on this build. The downtube shifters just needed a good service and polish, and they run perfectly now.
The cockpit was the main change. I wanted a more relaxed position than a traditional road bar, so I went for Toulouse bars from Ergotech, paired with deep red Oury grips and some of my favourite brake levers, the Tektro FL750. I'd planned to move the shifters up to the bars, but the bosses have a non-standard shape and wouldn't take cable stops, so they stayed on the downtube. Finishing it off is a Turbo saddle, always a favourite even if not the comfiest. Note that the seatpost use an expander similar to what you find on quill stem to attach without the need of a seat bolt or collar, neat but a bit of a pain when you want to adjust the height.
